IndyCar Predictions and Prognostications – Media Day, Aero Kits & St. Pete

The publication of this second ever edition of ‘IndyCar Predictions’ proves our propensity for prognostication, as it was foretold in the inaugural predictions that more would follow. Now IRR’s telepathic soothsaying division makes more bold predictions about the future of racing, visions which will no doubt shock and surprise our readers. Be warned that what follows is not for the faint of heart or the mere casual fan. Here are our latest prognostications for 2015 – we predict you’ll be surprised.

Media Day Meh: Little news will be made on media day at IMS this week. If it’s possible to screw something up, IndyCar will. Chevy’s unveil of mere images of its aero kits will be anticlimactic and cause an outcry due to folks being underwhelmed. Not until the kitted cars are on track in March will the real shock, gnashing of teeth and backlash against aero kits begin.

The Old Man and the Beach: Helio Castro-Neves will win his fourth race at St. Pete, beating out teammates Power and Pags to claim his thirtieth career victory. During the post race interview Helio-isms will drop like Brazil’s economy. “De Hitachi car was really good out dare. SO GOOD to win for Roger. It’s just fun-tastic!”

Silly Season Predictions: Hoosier Conor Daly’s patience will finally be rewarded with a much deserved IndyCar ride. Certain European drivers will be disappointed when it comes to ride announcements, while at least one will get his wish. In a surprise development, Andretti announces his team will run only three full time cars in 2015. In no surprise to anyone, Dale Coyne will have nothing to announce publicly.

IndyCar Series Predictions: New sponsor announcements will occur, as will at least one more loss of sponsorship on the heels of APEX Brazil’s exit and the Brasilia fiasco. American tax payers’ dollars will bring many new projects to the Speedway – and even more strings and headaches.

Minor league stuff: Pro Mazda series driver Will Owen of Colorado will do well this weekend at NOLA and be a threat to win a race. This will occur after and largely due to the fact that he conducts his first major interview with IRR prior to racing.
